Spoiled Eldest Miss x Two-faced Madman
CHAPTER 1: It's Clearly the Golden Finger That Conquers All!
An Jiu was fuming—all she’d done was leave a negative review! Why on earth did she get isekai’d?!
Transmigration was one thing, but she’d been transmigrated into a book!
It would be fine if she transmigrated as the heroine, but she ended up transmigrating as the vicious female supporting character in the book!
And as if that weren't enough, a system popped up out of nowhere and told her she must conquer the second male lead, who was also the hidden main villain. She would be allowed to go home only after successfully conquering him.
An Jiu: “F***!”
It all started because she'd read a novel. It was a wuxia novel, and the reason it caught her interest was that the female supporting character was very similar to her.
Not only was her personality similar, but her family background was too. Even their names were alike.
An Jiu even suspected that the author of this book knew her in real life and had used her as inspiration for a character.
A Sword of Flying Frost tells a story interwoven with love, hate, and the chivalry of the martial arts world.
The male lead in the book is a novice yet mysterious swordsman, while the female lead is the eldest daughter of the renowned Zhùjiàn Villa.
In An Jiu's opinion, this book, like most wuxia novels, features a stereotypical, straightforward, and somewhat simple-minded male lead and a rich and beautiful female lead who's also a bit mischievous and quirky.
The characters are fairly generic and not particularly outstanding, due to the stricter censorship of novels these days, which requires protagonists to be portrayed as noble, glorious, and upright.
What really caught her attention was the villainous female supporting character, An Jiu.
An Jiu is a refined young lady from a prominent family, but she isn't at all conventional. Her first encounter with the main characters occurs while she's running away from an arranged marriage.
An Jiu is a rebellious, arrogant, and spoiled young miss. She refuses to be blindly married off to someone chosen by her family and runs away. Mid-escape, she's unfortunately captured by the ¹flower thief, only to be rescued by the main characters who are investigating the flower thief's crimes.
To avoid being forced into marriage, she followed the main group as they traveled the Jianghu.
The rest of the story was fairly predictable.
Through her increasing interactions with the male and female leads, An Jiu falls in love with the upright and handsome male lead, He Ziqing. Driven by jealousy, she repeatedly tries to harm the female lead. Eventually, her actions are exposed, her true nature revealed, and she's abandoned by everyone, ultimately dying at the hands of the villains.
The story was nothing new, and An Jiu wouldn't have paid it any attention if not for one thing: if only this “An Jiu” weren't so similar to her.
The An Jiu in the book comes from a prominent official family, living a life of luxury since childhood. She has a haughty and arrogant personality, even somewhat spoiled and willful.
The real-life An Jiu also comes from a wealthy family and has an even more arrogant and willful personality than the character.
Because the two were so alike, An Jiu couldn't help but empathize with the character, leading her to post a series of comments.
“An Jiu would never fall for someone like He Ziqing! That simple-minded, straightforward guy—a young miss like her would never look twice! And fighting over him? An Jiu is too proud for that; it's so low-class!”
“Does the author even know how to write? With An Jiu's personality, if she were to fall for anyone, it would be Pei Ji. A young miss like her would never fall for a simple-minded guy; she'd only be attracted to someone intelligent!”
After posting a string of critical comments and giving the author a scathing one-star rating, An Jiu tossed her phone aside and went to bed. Who knew that when she closed her eyes and opened them again, she would be transmigrated?
If she'd known this would happen, she would have kept her mouth shut! No, she would have showered the author with praise and votes, showering them with compliments on how wonderful the writing was.
Unfortunately... It was too late now.
“Um... hey, System? Are you there?”
【Host, I'm always here.】
A cold, emotionless electronic voice echoed in her mind. An Jiu shivered involuntarily; she felt like a ghost had crawled into her brain—it was terrifying.
But compared to having a ghost in her head, the mission was even more terrifying.
An Jiu swallowed, looking around. She seemed to be crouching in a small, dark corner, surrounded by darkness; it looked like a closet.
She instinctively lowered her voice and whispered, “You mean I have to win over the second male lead, Pei Ji, make him fall in love with me, before I can go home?”
【Correct.】The system's voice was devoid of emotion.
An Jiu's face fell; she felt completely defeated.
“Can’t this mission be changed? Aren't I the female supporting character? Don't people usually just follow the plot when they transmigrate into a book? Can't I just follow the plot? Can I like the simple-minded He Ziqing instead?”
A string of questions poured out of her, almost begging by the end. It wasn't easy for a young miss like her to be reduced to this.
However, the only reply she received was the same cold, two-word answer.
【No.】
Her hopes instantly crushed, An Jiu crouched in the dark closet, tears welling up in her eyes.
【According to system analysis, the host has a high degree of favorability towards Pei Ji.】
An Jiu cried, “You don't understand! Pei Ji is a black lotus—someone who can only be admired from afar, not someone who should be approached intimately. I can appreciate him from the outside, but if you want me to date him, I'll run a million miles away!”
An Jiu couldn't help but recall Pei Ji's storyline in the book. Pei Ji, the quintessential handsome and tragic second male lead, is not only the second male lead but also the deeply hidden, ultimate villain in the story.
Pei Ji and the female lead, Lin Qingyan, had known each other since childhood. Lin Qingyan is the heir to the Zhùjiàn Villa, and Pei Ji is the young master of the Medicine King Valley. Their parents were close friends, so they were practically childhood sweethearts.
After Lin Qingyan came of age, she went out to hone her skills, and Pei Ji, upon hearing this, offered to accompany her, protecting her along the way.
Pei Ji, having grown up surrounded by herbs, has extraordinary medical skills, saving countless lives. His personality is gentle and unassuming, unlike the typical Jianghu figures; he's more like a refined and elegant young master from a prestigious family.
The reason for his gentle nature is a tragic incident from his infancy. Enemies of the Medicine King poisoned him, severing all the meridians in his body. This left him unable to practice martial arts and even restricted his mobility, forcing him to rely on a wheelchair.
Furthermore, he suffers from a recurring, debilitating illness every month, enduring excruciating pain from the poison coursing through his veins.
Years of suffering have honed his patience and composure. He always maintains a calm and polite demeanor, never showing weakness in front of others.
If that were all, An Jiu wouldn't be so resistant to the idea of a relationship with him.
It's not so much resistance as it is fear. -_-!
Pei Ji isn't just a deeply affectionate second male lead; he's a major antagonist! And he's An Jiu's favorite character—the incredibly intelligent mastermind who manipulates everyone around him!
The main storyline of A Sword of Flying Frost revolves around a long-lost, incredibly powerful martial art manual.
Legend says that a hundred years ago, a peerless martial artist created a technique that anyone could learn. Regardless of talent or aptitude, anyone could master this incredible skill simply by following the instructions in the manual. Even those with severed meridians could use this technique to repair their bodies and restore their health.
A hundred years later, rumors of the manual's reappearance spread throughout the Jianghu, causing chaos and upheaval.
With the manual's emergence, countless conspiracies begin to unfold. Pei Ji, with his severed meridians, naturally desires the manual.
In truth, for years he's secretly sought ways to cure himself. Although he lacks martial arts skills, his medical expertise earns him the respect of many in the Jianghu. However, few know that his skills in poison far surpass his medical abilities. After all, medicine and poison are intrinsically linked.
Publicly, Pei Ji is the gentle and harmless young master of the Medicine King Valley. In secret, he's the leader of the notorious assassin organization Qiānshā Pavilion, known as Xian Wuming, a name that has become increasingly infamous over the past decade.
It is said that the name means: Even a god would meet their end if they encountered him.
Pei Ji not only has two identities, but he's also a master of deception. The more amiable he appears on the surface, the more vengeful and ruthless he is in secret. Anyone who offends Pei Ji will be secretly retaliated against in a way that leaves no trace. He can even smile and accept thanks from someone, then turn around and slaughter their entire family.
In his pursuit of the divine skill, he resorts to countless schemes, harming countless people and wiping out numerous martial arts families.
An Jiu strongly suspects that Pei Ji's dark side is a result of years of suppressed emotions. As the saying goes, “Those who do not erupt in silence will become twisted in silence.”
Towards the end of the story, someone finally discovers Pei Ji's true nature—Lin Qingyan, his childhood sweetheart and the female lead.
Out of their past affection, Lin Qingyan desperately tries to persuade him to turn away from his evil ways and chooses not to reveal his heinous acts.
However, while she's trying to help him, Pei Ji repays her kindness with betrayal, knocking her unconscious and taking her captive.
By this point, Pei Ji has obtained the manual, healed his severed meridians, and begun cultivating the divine skill.
That's right, the martial arts manual that the entire Jianghu was chasing after ended up in his hands.
That's the mark of a true big boss!
When An Jiu read that part, she felt vindicated in her admiration for Pei Ji. He was the only one in the entire book with true intelligence; everyone else was completely outplayed by him.
At this moment, An Jiu wants to slap herself.
After abducting Lin Qingyan, Pei Ji becomes the undisputed king of the Jianghu. With his unparalleled skills in medicine and poison, coupled with his mastery of the divine skill, no one can defeat him.
But, since he's the second male lead, he'll naturally have a fitting end for that role.
Pei Ji wants to be with Lin Qingyan, so he uses a ²Love Gu to make her fall in love with him, subsequently announcing their wedding to the world. Perhaps to satisfy his thirst for revenge, he invites his former rival, He Ziqing.
The wedding takes place at the Zhùjiàn Villa, but unbeknownst to him, Lin Qingyan's will is stronger than he anticipated. At the crucial moment, she breaks free from the Love Gu's control.
As the entire Jianghu arrives to celebrate, Lin Qingyan reveals the Zhùjiàn Villa's treasured sword, Feishuang, and exposes Pei Ji's evil deeds to everyone. She then joins forces with He Ziqing to confront him.
Intelligent people are often overconfident, and Pei Ji is no exception. He believed that a Love Gu could control someone's feelings, but love is never subjugated by external forces.
He Ziqing, as the protagonist, is naturally skilled in swordsmanship. His adventures in the Jianghu lead him to unexpected encounters and the inheritance of a Sword God's legacy.
With the Feishuang sword in hand, he and Lin Qingyan work together seamlessly. Their combined power unleashes a devastating attack, the force of which creates frost and snow in the heat of summer.
Ultimately, with the assistance of many martial artists, they defeat the great villain, Pei Ji.
The novel concludes with a perfect ending, as is typical. The male and female leads achieve fame, fortune, and live happily ever after.
The supporting female character, An Jiu, has long since been forgotten, and Pei Ji's elaborate schemes ultimately come to nothing.
The author's intended message is that true love conquers all... or perhaps it's more accurate to say that plot armor conquers all!
With so many people attacking him, and the author showering the main characters with plot armor, Pei Ji's defeat was inevitable.
The An Jiu of the past couldn't help but comment angrily, feeling sorry for Pei Ji.
Now, An Jiu's only thought is: The Jianghu is too dangerous! I want to go home!
