The Male Lead I Wronged Has Blackened
CHAPTER 47: You Have to Wait for Me
Si Yao’s clear voice echoed through the space.
Jiang Shuo stared blankly at the girl’s determined expression and her words. For a moment, it felt as if all his senses had disappeared, leaving only her in the world.
She hugged his neck, her voice low and gentle as she whispered, “Jiang Shuo, I like you.”
A scene that had only ever happened in dreams had suddenly become reality, leaving Jiang Shuo completely unprepared. He even wondered if this was all a dream, or if he was still trapped in the Annihilation Array and had never truly woken up.
“Ah Shuo…”
Seeing Jiang Shuo’s blank expression, Si Yao thought perhaps he still held a grudge from ten years ago and couldn’t accept her confession.
Even so, she had no thought of giving up. Her eyes still shone with unwavering determination. She let out a small sigh of disappointment and said, “I know it’s my fault. How could you ever…”
“Say it again.”
Jiang Shuo’s eyes sharpened, cutting off her murmured words. The blood-red depths of his gaze were filled with raw emotion. He needed to know, to be certain, that her words were true.
Even if it were only a dream, even if it could cost him his life, he would accept it willingly.
“Say it again,” he repeated, his voice urgent.
Those usually calm, unreadable eyes now burned with a heat that made Si Yao’s heart skip. She understood instantly what he wanted to hear, yet she did not speak immediately.
Her jade-like arms tightened slightly around his neck. She leaned closer, her exquisite face just inches from his, and pressed her cherry-red lips to his. Her unique, delicate scent filled his senses as she kissed him with a fervor that left the usually commanding man unsure how to respond.
It must be a dream.
It could only happen in a dream.
Her kiss was inexperienced, clumsy even, teeth occasionally clashing with his, yet Jiang Shuo felt it was the sweetest thing he had ever tasted in his life.
When the embrace ended, her lips were slightly swollen. She nestled against his ear, breathing lightly, her warm breath brushing against him, and spoke slowly, each word deliberate:
“Jiang Shuo, I like you.”
“I love you.”
“I want to be with you.”
Si Yao’s words made Jiang Shuo unconsciously tighten his hold on her. No matter how surreal her confession sounded a moment ago, this person was here, in his arms, for real.
This was not a dream.
“Alright.”
He responded without hesitation. Whether her words were truly heartfelt or whether she had some hidden motive, he would respond the same way.
He had waited far too long for this moment.
…..
Everything was going so smoothly that Si Yao felt a little lost. The rejection she had imagined in her fantasies never came. He didn’t demand explanations or justifications. He simply listened to her confession and gave her a firm reply.
But the more indifferent his attitude was, the more Si Yao felt heartache. Just how deep were this man's feelings for her to be able to let go of the hurt she had caused him and treat her with such tenderness?
Si Yao sat on the edge of the bed, watching Jiang Shuo busy at the table, and a pang of ache rose in her chest.
“Ah Shuo…”
She called him softly.
Jiang Shuo looked up from the table stacked with medicinal pills. Si Yao had sustained serious internal injuries during the earlier battle, and he was carefully selecting the ones best suited to heal her.
“The injuries will heal eventually, no need to go to so much trouble,” she said.
“That won’t do,” Jiang Shuo replied lightly, lowering his head again to continue scrutinizing the pile of pills.
Though Jiang Shuo possessed unparalleled skill in martial arts, he knew nothing about medicine, worried that any healing pill might have side effects or be too strong.
Seeing him so earnest and fussy, Si Yao smiled helplessly. She stood up and stepped behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
She felt his body tense up for just a moment at her touch.
She leaned against Jiang Shuo, her arms wrapping from behind to rest against his chest. Holding him like that, she murmured over his shoulder, “Ah Shuo… do you really… not hate me…?”
“..…”
Si Yao felt the tension in his body ease slightly, yet the moment she spoke, the room fell into a long, heavy silence. Both of them drifted into their own thoughts.
“You said… you would make it up to me.”
After a long pause, his deep voice finally returned.
Si Yao buried her face fully against his back, muffledly replying, “Mm.”
“I will… even if it costs me everything.”
Feeling the softness pressed against his back, a faint curve lifted his lips as he teased, “If that’s the case, you’d better not go back on your word.”
“Senior sister.”
Huh?
Si Yao straightened up, puzzled. Jiang Shuo rarely called her that anymore.
Before she could process it, he moved like lightning, pressing a pill into her mouth. She swallowed instinctively.
“What… is this?”
Before she could finish, Jiang Shuo lifted her into his arms and answered while holding her: “A healing pill.”
He had carefully chosen the one best suited to restore her injuries. Almost instantly after taking it, her wounds began to mend.
He didn’t give her a moment to be distracted. Carrying her a few steps to the bed, he gently set her down, then leaned over her.
The sudden movement startled Si Yao. Her hands pressed against his lean chest, and she called out cautiously, “Ah Shuo…?”
But she only managed that one word before his lips claimed hers.
The warmth of his breath enveloped her completely. In an instant, Si Yao guessed his intentions. She struggled silently, her hands clenched into fists and lightly thumping his chest, but her resistance was too weak to stand against his overwhelming force.
That was fine too.
Dazed, Si Yao thought this to herself.
No matter what, she was willing.
So Si Yao’s faint struggles gradually turned into submission and cooperation. Sensing this, the man’s movements only became more forceful.
He had finally gotten her.
He finally got her!
He didn’t know how much of her words were true, how much was a lie, but even if it was all deceit, he had her body in his arms.
Jiang Shuo held the unconscious girl in his embrace. The intensity of the first time had been too much, and she, exhausted, fainted from it.
But was that enough?
Jiang Shuo heard himself asking the question.
He had heard love from her lips, had possessed her body, things he had never even dared to imagine before.
Two different forces clashed in his mind.
He saw the cold, merciless Si Yao from ten years ago, and yet he also saw the caring, attentive Si Yao of the present, the one who worried for him, who treated him with kindness.
His head throbbed in pain. He held Si Yao tighter and closed his eyes, utterly exhausted.
The scene shifted again.
Jiang Shuo felt his consciousness being drawn away.
He was back in the past.
He saw that night from ten years ago, the first time Si Yao had acted against him. She had lured him to drink a deadly poison, leaving him writhing in pain, nearly at the brink of death.
But this time, it was different. He seemed to become a bystander, watching his past suffering unfold.
And he saw something he had never noticed before.
After tempting Jiang Shuo to drink the poisoned wine, Si Yao had not left. She had concealed her presence, hiding in the shadows, quietly observing him.
She saw Jiang Shuo collapse in agony from the corrosive poison, and the moment he went unconscious, she burst into the room, frantically checking on him.
That was when Jiang Shuo realized he wasn’t seeing his own memories. He was seeing Si Yao’s memories.
He saw her helplessly crouched over his unconscious body, crying. He watched her frantically apologize while administering the antidote, and then slip away just as he began to regain consciousness.
He saw many more scenes, each one showing Si Yao acting out of necessity, trapped by circumstances beyond her control.
Finally, he saw the scene of himself and Si Yao in the cliffside cave.
That was the first time he had confessed his true feelings to her.
In the past, Si Yao would have brushed him off, rejected him, just like the memory showed.
But this time, he heard words completely different from before.
“I love you so much too.”
“But I have to do this… I will repay with my life…”
He heard Si Yao answer like this.
Jiang Shuo was stunned to realize that in this state, even without physical contact, he could hear Si Yao’s innermost thoughts.
The reply Si Yao had given just now was a voice she only dared to answer with in her heart…
So it was real…
She really did love him…
Jiang Shuo kept watching. He saw himself fall from the cliff, saw himself claw his way back up, saw himself pierce Si Yao’s arm with a sword, and finally saw her jump off the cliff without hesitation.
No…
Don’t leave me…
He desperately tried to stop it, only to realize it was useless. He was in a spiritual state, unable to change anything at all.
A sharp pain tore through Jiang Shuo’s chest, and then everything went dark.
“Ah Shuo…”
“I’m so thirsty.”
The lazy, soft voice of a girl pulled Jiang Shuo’s consciousness back from the darkness.
The girl who had once fallen from the cliff and nearly left him forever was now safely in his arms. The moment that realization hit, he tightened his hold on her.
So tight it felt as if he wanted to fuse her into his very bones and blood.
That brief wandering through memories had let Jiang Shuo see everything about Si Yao. Standing before him now, she had no secrets left.
She had really hidden so many things from him.
So what if her soul came from another world. No matter what, he would never let her leave him again.
“Mm…”
Jiang Shuo’s sudden closeness left Si Yao short of breath. She lifted her head in confusion, only to freeze on the spot.
The blood-red in Jiang Shuo’s eyes had completely faded, leaving behind only a deep, dark black, just like before.

Si Yao never would have imagined that the task she thought would be the hardest would be completed so easily. Yet her heart sank heavily, because the moment the system announced task completion would also be the day she parted from Jiang Shuo.
She had only just confessed her feelings to him. Was she really about to leave him like this?
Endless sorrow rose in Si Yao’s heart.
She reached out and gently caressed Jiang Shuo’s handsome face, her voice slow but firm. “Ah Shuo, if one day I leave you, don’t panic, and don’t be sad. No matter what, I will come back to find you.”
“You must wait for me.”
