Time-Travel: The Tragic Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Makes a Comeback

CHAPTER 21: The 1970s Naive Supporting Girl (21)

Seeing how quick on the uptake her brother was, Song Susu couldn’t help but smile.

After the two siblings entered the house, Sun Caifeng was so frightened that she tried to escape, but was hit by the mother-in-law that Song Susu threw at her. She screamed and was almost scared out of her wits.

She shrank into the corner and completely broke down, bawling. “I don’t want to die, I haven’t lived enough yet, I still haven’t given Junzi a son. If I die like this, I won’t even be allowed into the ancestral grave…”

Listening to her sobbing and wailing, it was both pitiful and ridiculous.

Song Susu signaled for her brother to close the door, then slowly walked up to her.

“Someone like you, bullying the weak with your strength and ganging up with that vicious old woman to torment others. Don’t pretend you have any conscience. You’re a woman yourself, yet you still play the favoritism toward sons game. I’m honestly wondering whether beating you to death would be justified.”

The words had barely fallen when Song Susu slapped her hard across the face.

  “Ah!”

Sun Caifeng shrieked and kept ducking her head, scrambling backward.

Song Susu grabbed her hair and forced her to look up.

“You were the one who made me wash your parents in law’s underwear, right? With how rotten you are inside, one slap is nowhere near enough.”

  Pa. Pa.

Song Susu slapped her left and right, barely managing to satisfy her urges with two blows.

Sun Caifeng cried until her eyes were red. Whether she was stunned or truly terrified, she clutched her cheeks and shook her head over and over. “I won’t dare again, please spare me…”

When Song Yuanchao heard that this was the woman who had forced his sister to wash underwear, he was so angry his eyes scanned the room. Spotting the chamber pot by the bed, he did not hesitate. He walked over, lifted it, and dumped it straight over her head.

Unluckily for her, there was still a layer of yellow urine left in the chamber pot. The foul, sour liquid poured straight down from her forehead, running into her neck, not a drop wasted as it drenched her from head to toe.

  “Ah! Ugh, ugh…”

With the chamber pot stuck on her head, Sun Caifeng flailed as the stench hit her. In the end, she slapped it away and collapsed onto the ground, retching violently, yellowish fluid spilling from her mouth as she gagged nonstop.

Song Susu took a few disgusted steps back. The smell was way too intense, seriously unbearable, so she opened the door and stepped outside to get some air.

Song Yuanchao grabbed a rag from beside the table, lifted the chamber pot, and poured the last bit of urine onto Jiang Jian’e’s face as she lay on the ground.

Still not satisfied, he aimed a hard kick at her backside.

“So this is for bullying my sister and making her wash underwear. Drink up!”

Outside in the yard, Song Susu found a length of rope and tossed it in, calling out, “Yuanchao, tie them up while you’re at it. Stuff something in their mouths too. We’re still waiting for the others. Today we’re settling things with this whole family at once.”

The main reason was that the room reeked so badly of urine she absolutely did not want to step back inside.

The moment Song Yuanchao saw there was work to do, his eyes lit up. Full of enthusiasm, he copied the way his sister wrapped the rope and started tying them up.

Once they were bound tight, he pulled apart the rag he had used to hold the chamber pot earlier and stuffed pieces into their mouths.

He dusted himself off and ran outside, grinning as he reported, “Sis, everything you told me to do is done.”

Song Susu gave him a thumbs up. “Awesome. My best little helper.”

Song Yuanchao puffed out his chest and said very seriously, “Sis, when you have time, teach me these skills. Once I learn them, you won’t have to do it yourself anymore.”

Song Susu smiled. “Alright, today’s full of practice opportunities. I’ll teach you how to hit someone in a way that hurts them but leaves no trace. That’s a real trick.”

  “Yes! I want to learn!”

They were chatting when footsteps sounded outside.

Song Yuanchao quickly closed the door, trying to act calm, and walked out with his sister to sit on the wooden bench in the yard.

No sooner had they sat down than two men and a short-haired, pretty young girl walked into the yard.

The girl was about 1.6 meters tall, with a round face and bright, lively almond-shaped eyes. When she smiled, dimples appeared, giving her an extra charm.

“Little sister, you’re amazing! You earned seven or eight yuan in one day. If you keep it up, you’ll make over a hundred in a month. That’s even higher than what City workers get!”

“Exactly, our little sister really is sharp. Whatever money-making jobs you find, don’t forget your big brother and second brother.”

The topic of the conversation, Jiang Xiaoli, lifted her chin arrogantly and casually said, “That’s nothing. The person I work with makes over twenty yuan a day. A month, it adds up to a few hundred.”

Her brothers listened, full of envy, and admired her even more.

“Making that much, huh? Looks like I came at the right time. So, when am I getting back my 126 yuan?”

Song Susu’s sudden voice made the three of them jump.

It took them a moment to realize there were other people at the house. They hurried into the yard, and when Jiang Xiaoli saw Song Susu’s completely changed appearance, a flicker of jealousy crossed her eyes.

But the feeling vanished as quickly as it came. Jiang Xiaoli’s face softened, eyes wide with surprise and warmth as she walked over. “Susu, you’re back! That’s great. I missed you so much.”

Before Song Susu could speak, Song Yuanchao piped up.

He folded his small arms across his chest just like his sister and said, sounding way more mature than his age, “You’re the one who owes my sister money, right? Our family is barely scraping by. Just now, my sister and I heard you made a lot of money. Give it back.”

Song Susu smiled, thinking she'd made the right choice in bringing her brother along; he was definitely a great help.

Jiang Xiaoli’s smile stiffened, and instead of answering, she said in surprise, “You’re Yuanchao, Susu’s little brother? Wow, you’re really handsome. Susu talks about you all the time. She says you’re such a responsible boy.”

Too bad Song Yuanchao wasn’t buying it. “Flattery won’t work on me. Owe money, pay money. Pretty words don’t erase debt.”

Song Susu’s smile widened. She silently gave her brother a thumbs-up.

Jiang Xiaoli’s brothers, Jiang Xiaodong and Jiang Xiaojun, stepped forward, glaring at Yuanchao. “You little brat, how dare you talk like that? My sister is speaking nicely to you. You don’t take the wine but want the punishment instead!”

Jiang Xiaoli really wanted her brothers to teach this cheeky kid a lesson, but now wasn’t the time to pick a fight with Song Susu.

She pretended to stop them, speaking gently, “Big brother, second brother, Susu is my good little sister. Her brother is my little brother. They probably just ran into something upsetting at home. There’s no need to get upset. We can talk this out.”

Then she looked at Song Susu with an apologetic smile, full of sincerity. “Susu, my brothers didn’t mean anything. I know you’re not usually like this. You must have felt wronged at home. Don’t be afraid. You have me, your sister. Ever since I saved you, I’ve treated you like my own sister. Tell me if anything happens.”

Song Susu couldn’t help but want to clap. The performance was flawless.

No wonder the original Song Susu was so infatuated with her that she was practically mentally challenged, spending money and effort on her, and even on her deathbed she still remembered her kindness.

“Then start by giving me the 126 yuan you owe. Didn’t you hear my brother? We’re so poor that we can't even afford food.”

Song Susu’s tone was light and airy.

Jiang Xiaoli, clearly a little flustered in the face of someone so composed, tried to reason, “My mom and the others spent quite a bit. I did earn a little today, but my investment hasn’t come back yet. If you give me a little more time, I promise I’ll pay you back, even with interest. We’re all here, after all. I can’t cheat my little sister.”

Of course, this girl was smart and cunning.

If she said that to anyone else, offering interest and all, most people would even feel embarrassed to push further.

Ye Susu had faced plenty of high-level fake sweethearts and sly green tea types before. Looking at this one, she didn’t even bother watching her act.
