Spoiled Eldest Miss x Two-faced Madman

CHAPTER 34: Just Make Her Shut Up, And Everything Will Be Fine.

Quickly, Pei Ji regained consciousness and realized that there were no peach trees in the Jinshe Villa.

There were only vast stretches of ginkgo forests. On the way here, he hadn't seen a single peach tree within a mile.

So where was that fragrance coming from?

Perhaps it was due to the increasingly frequent poison attacks in his final days of his previous life, which had made him incredibly resilient. In the past, Pei Ji would have already lost consciousness by now, but he was still lucid, even able to think about this question.

Focusing his attention, he finally heard footsteps getting closer outside the door.

In the darkness, Pei Ji opened his eyes, turning his head toward the door, his lifeless black eyes as still as a deep well.

The fragrance grew stronger, seeping in through the crack in the door, filling the entire room, enveloping him in its soft, intoxicating aroma, a tide that threatened to drown him.

The footsteps finally stopped. Someone stood outside the door, gently pushing on the doorframe.

In the night, a girl's voice could be faintly heard, mumbling: “Why... can't I open it... My room, why can't I open it…”

It took Pei Ji a while to realize who was outside the door.

At the same time, he also detected a faint scent of alcohol mixed with the peach blossom fragrance.

So it wasn't peach blossoms blooming, but someone who had drunk peach blossom wine, mistakenly found their way to his door at night, and fell drunk at the door of his room.

The girl's mumbling was soft, barely audible like a mosquito buzzing.

She was drunk and disoriented, sliding down from the door, leaning against the threshold. Even though the door wouldn't open, she didn't realize she had gone to the wrong place, stubbornly refusing to leave.

“Who... who locked me out, it's so cold…”

“Ming Yi, come on, drink... drink more…”

Ming Yi, the boy who lived next door to her.

Pei Ji had seen them walking in the garden during the day, the girl smiling brightly, the man handsome and elegant. They had only just met, but they seemed to have endless things to talk about.

If he remembered correctly, that Ming Yi seemed to be the son of the Ming Wang (King Ming).

She had mentioned before that she had a betrothal agreement with the Ming Wang?

If his son is already that big, what kind of old man must the Ming Wang be? No wonder she wants to run away from her marriage...

The physical pain caused his thoughts to become muddled, countless chaotic thoughts racing through his mind. Pei Ji could only barely maintain a sliver of clarity.

In the past, he wouldn't have allowed his mind to become so confused, but now he was powerless to control it. His brain seemed to have a mind of its own, filled with the image of a young girl.

“Stinky Pei Ji, dead Pei Ji, ignore me! I'm not going to pay attention to you either, you crippled old man, why are you so annoying! I'm not playing with you anymore, I'm going to go play with Ming Yi... you all ignore me, I, I, this young lady doesn't care about you anymore!”

The girl's tone suddenly rose, and she angrily cursed, but because she had been drinking, her words were slurred, her voice was childish and clear, sounding less like scolding and more like a kitten mewing and acting spoiled.

She stumbled to her feet, as if to leave, but lost her way and bumped her head against the wooden door with a solid ‘bang.’

“Ouch! Waaah, waaah, it hurts so much…” The petite figure reflected on the door immediately covered her head, crying out in pain and crouching down, shrinking into a small ball.

“Waaah, waaah... it hurts so much... Pei Ji, Pei Ji, where did you go, give me a needle, my head hurts so much…”

All he could hear were soft, repeated calls of ‘Pei Ji,’ with a slight sob, delicate and sweet, like a kitten meowing.

  Annoying.

The man lying on the bed slowly turned over, closing his eyes tightly. His tightly furrowed brows were full of suppressed forbearance.

  “Waaah…”

Low sobs continued incessantly, in the silent night, sounding like ghostly, eerie whispers.

A moment later, a pale hand extended from behind the lowered window curtain, its fingers long and slender, the clearly defined bones of the back of the hand showing prominent blue veins, as if enduring something with great effort.

That hand supported itself on the bed, and the person inside slowly got up. Black hair cascaded over his shoulders, and drops of sweat trickled down his pale cheeks.

He slowly climbed out of bed, his thin, empty undergarment clinging to his slender frame. His gaze fell into empty space, his expression dazed and distant.

The man walked step by step toward the door, his long sleeves trailing on the floor, his pace slow, like a wandering ghost in the underworld.

It seemed that it wasn't his mind, but an unconscious instinct that supported him in standing.

It was too noisy; the noise was splitting his head.

He needed to silence that annoying sound.

Unfortunately, Ah Qi had been sent out; otherwise, he wouldn't have needed to do this himself.

Even facing the immense pain that was causing his consciousness to scatter, Pei Ji still remembered that he couldn't hurt the person outside the door, so he couldn't directly poison her.

He walked, thinking, what should he do?

How could he silence her voice, stop her from calling his name, stop her from disturbing him?

The short distance of a few steps felt like an eternity to him.

Every moment, the pain in his body doubled and increased. His limbs felt as if they were severed; Pei Ji felt as if his entire being was being crushed, as if his whole body was slowly tortured to death.

Perhaps, he was already being slowly tortured to death.

He struggled to catch his breath, finally reaching the door, slowly raising his hand to open it.

Even such a simple action left Pei Ji drenched in cold sweat, his fingertips trembling uncontrollably, his whole body weak as he leaned against the doorframe. Heavy gasps escaped his throat, like a dying beast.

With a ‘click,’ the door opened.

An Jiu, crouching at the doorway, heard the sound and looked up.

By the light of the full moon, she saw a face devoid of blood.

Like a sheet of white paper, in the dim night, his face was deathly pale, like a ghost crawled out of hell.

His head was slightly lowered, standing behind the door, his long black hair cascading down, looking down at her.

An Jiu's heart skipped a beat; she almost jumped up and screamed ‘Ghost!’, the little alcohol she had consumed instantly gone.

She barely managed to remember what she was doing, maintaining a semblance of calm.

Her heart pounded as she slowly stood up under the man's unwavering gaze, meeting his eyes.

The eyes in the man's pale face were like two dark, impenetrable holes, bottomless.

“You... Pei Ji, what's wrong with you?”

An Jiu hugged her arms, asking shakily.

She didn't want to tease him anymore. The current Pei Ji looked terrifying, radiating danger, truly like a ghost crawled out from the earth.

And, he was actually standing! Not pretending to be in a wheelchair!

She had discovered his secret; would she be silenced?

An Jiu trembled, afraid she would be killed at any moment.

Although death was unlikely, Pei Ji certainly had ways to turn her into a living corpse or a fool, just like the killer guards in the Dark Manor—which was almost as good as dead!

“You... called... me... what?” Pei Ji asked, panting, each word drawn out.

  Hey, he didn't attack?

An Jiu secretly observed his expression, finally noticing that his dark eyes were somewhat vacant, seemingly lacking in consciousness!

She blinked her eyes, cautiously taking a step forward, the distance between them shortening, separated only by the threshold.

So close, even in the deep night, An Jiu could clearly see the man's slightly twitching eye corners, the prominent blue veins in his neck, his slightly trembling body, and the thin undergarment that was mostly wet with cold sweat and clung to his skin.

He looked... like he was really in pain.

An Jiu was momentarily stunned, then quickly recovered, carefully acting: “Pei Ji, how did you get out of my room... Right, I just hit my head, Pei Ji, can you give me a needle? My head hurts so much, I don't know if it's swollen, can you take a look for me?”

The girl wasn't tall, and she had to tilt her head up to speak to the man. She brushed the hair from her forehead, revealing her smooth brow, as if to prove her words.

Pei Ji didn't actually hear anything clearly.

His head buzzed, as if being hammered repeatedly by a heavy mallet. The intense pain made it almost impossible for him to hear anything from the outside world.

He lowered his gaze, his scattered eyes falling on the girl's fair cheek, sliding from her forehead to her glistening peach blossom eyes, her delicate, upturned nose, finally settling on her small, moving lips.

It was this mouth that incessantly called his name, again and again.

Even the memory made Pei Ji unbearably close his eyes, his eye corners twitching violently twice.

How could he make her shut up?

  Kill her? No.

The thought was rejected as soon as it appeared. Pei Ji raised his hand to press against his forehead, then suddenly took a deep breath, opened his eyes, reached out, grabbed the girl's waist, and pulled her into the room.

  Bang!

The door slammed shut behind them.

The silvery moonlight was cut off outside, leaving the room in semi-darkness.

An Jiu: “Aaah!” She's going to be killed!!

Pei Ji held the girl's soft, boneless body. Hearing the sharp cry that suddenly erupted beside his ear, he frowned in discomfort and said hoarsely, “...Be quiet.”

Hot breath washed over her face, and her waist was tightly gripped by a burning hand. An Jiu didn't need to guess to know that he must have bruised her waist.

Trapped between the man's hard chest and the door, she didn't dare to breathe.

An Jiu was rapidly thinking about how to avoid being silenced tomorrow.

Even though Pei Ji seemed rather out of it now, once he returned to normal tomorrow and remembered everything that happened tonight, wouldn't she still be in trouble?

For now, the only option was to play the drunk act to the end.

An Jiu's eyes flickered, and she began to act spoiled: “Let go of me! Pei Ji, I want to sleep, you go away…”

Her two soft hands pushed at his chest, without much force, like a kitten scratching an itch.

Why couldn't she just be obedient?

Pei Ji's brows furrowed tightly, and the suppressed anger in his heart suddenly erupted. He grabbed the girl's two hands, twisting them behind her back, completely restraining her and trapping her in his arms.

He didn't have the strength to go back, so he just held the girl's slender wrists with one hand and supported himself against the doorframe with the other, his whole body pressing down on her, panting heavily.

“It hurts, Pei Ji, be gentle, why are you so strong! You're so heavy, Pei Ji, don't press on me, woo woo woo…”

Her delicate voice echoed in his ears, disturbing his peace.

Pei Ji was using all his willpower to resist the pain of the poison; he had no energy left to deal with the capricious and spoiled young lady throwing a drunken tantrum.

He frowned impatiently, his dark eyelashes falling. In the dim night, he unexpectedly lowered his head, like a hawk hunting a rabbit, precisely capturing the girl's constantly moving lips.

  “Mmm...!”

A soft, short nasal sound escaped the girl's lips, and the surroundings suddenly fell silent.

Shutting her up, that's all it took.
