Time-Travel: The Tragic Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Makes a Comeback

CHAPTER 82: The First Wife of a 1980s Big Shot Who Died Young (15)

Qin Huaijing curved his lips slightly and stretched lazily like he was showing off, revealing a glimpse of his firm waist as he said, “Forget it. I don’t really know my limits. What if I don’t do a good job?”

He honestly didn’t believe it. With his looks, his build, his everything, there was no way Huo Meilan could be completely unmoved.

Besides, she was the one who kissed him pretty enthusiastically this morning. Neither of them had any right to laugh at the other.

Huo Meilan glanced at his half-exposed waist and faintly visible abs, and in the end couldn’t resist. She stood up, walked over, sat right beside him, and casually reached out to touch.

  “Oh wow, that’s pretty firm.”

Qin Huaijing clearly didn’t expect her to go straight for it. He shivered from the sensitivity and quickly shifted away. “Hey, who just reaches out and touches someone like that?”

Huo Meilan curled her lips. “If you don’t want to be touched, why show it off? Big man like you showing your waist and still scared of your wife touching you.”

With that, she pushed him down onto the bed and shamelessly started feeling his abs.

“Oh wow, not bad. You’ve got several here. Let me count them.”

Before she could finish, he pulled her down with him, and in the next second he was already over her.

Qin Huaijing’s handsome face was slightly flushed, his gaze burning as he stared at her. His voice turned hoarse. “Huo Meilan, I’m a man, not a wooden post. I really want to kiss you right now.”

Without another word, he lowered his head and sealed her soft lips, kissing her in a surprisingly gentle way.

But the more he kissed, the more hooked he became, like a fire spreading through his body with nowhere to go.

He slowly became less satisfied with just kissing, his large hand slipping under her clothes…

  “Mmm…”

Huo Meilan’s voice trembled slightly, completely thrown off by his teasing touch.

What started as just a kiss gradually spiraled out of control, slipping into something neither of them could really rein in anymore.

  “No… no, you can’t… you didn’t take that thing…”

Qin Huaijing’s entire stash of condoms was still collecting dust under the bed.

In the end, it all ended with Qin Huaijing taking a cold shower.

  ……

In the afternoon, when they picked up the photos, Qin Huaijing even went out of his way to buy a photo frame and placed the picture in their bedroom.

Huo Meilan was a little surprised when she saw it. It really turned out beautifully, the composition and atmosphere were unexpectedly good, the kind that just looks very “photogenic.”

She gave a casual compliment. “Not bad. Pretty good.”

Qin Huaijing immediately struck a smug pose, hands in his pockets like he was showing off. “Of course. Who do you think took it? Your man is good at everything.”

Huo Meilan could only sigh. So this is what people meant when they said couples in love act childish.

The same man who had looked so sharp and capable when they first met had now turned into a flamboyant peacock, constantly showing off and trying to impress her.

“I bought condoms,” Qin Huaijing suddenly said.

The sudden topic shift caught Huo Meilan completely off guard. Even someone as calm as her felt her face heat up a little.

She answered offhandedly, “So what if you bought them? It’s still broad daylight. What are you planning to do?”

Qin Huaijing scratched his nose. “Just telling you. We’re still going downstairs for dinner later, I’m not planning anything.”

Then, that night, Huo Meilan, half-asleep and dazed, was kissed awake.

  “Wife…”

Qin Huaijing’s hands wandered as he kissed her everywhere, occasionally leaning close to her ear to murmur something, his warm breath brushing against her skin.

Huo Meilan clearly couldn’t handle it. Her body reacted instantly, and she looped her slender arms around his neck, tilting her head up to kiss him back.

  ……

The next day, Huo Meilan was still sound asleep, completely worn out from the chaos of the night before.

Qin Huaijing, on the other hand, had a biological clock and woke up right on time.

He didn’t get up immediately. Instead, he lay on his side, propping his head up with one hand as he quietly watched the woman beside him. His gaze was so gentle it almost overflowed.

He reached out and brushed the stray strands of hair from her face behind her ear, then lightly touched her slightly swollen lips with his fingertips. Thankfully, there were no obvious marks outside.

But then, his eyes shifted downward and landed on her pale, delicate neck and the area above her collarbone. There were two or three faint red marks there.

  All from him.

The corners of his lips lifted as he reached out and lightly traced them again.

  “Mmm… no more…”

Huo Meilan turned over, grabbing the blanket and rolling to the other side in protest.

Qin Huaijing let out a soft laugh. He carefully tucked the blanket back around her and got up, moving quietly to wash up.

After washing, with the sky still early and his parents not yet awake, he carefully took the wrinkled bedsheet from last night and washed it.

He brought it back into the room and hung it on a rack by the window to dry.

After finishing all that, he went back to “cling” to his wife again.

“Stop it… my waist is sore…”

Huo Meilan, still half-asleep, lazily swatted him away with one hand and rolled over, continuing her peaceful sleep.

Qin Huaijing went downstairs and found a hot water bottle. He brought up a thermos, filled it about halfway with hot water. It was slightly warm, even a bit hot, but that was fine as long as it was wrapped under the blanket.

He placed it at Huo Meilan’s lower back and even tucked a pillow around it to keep it in place.

Then he went back downstairs to make breakfast.

Lai Suyun had just gotten up and came out to drink some water when she saw her son downstairs.

“So early? Why not sleep a little more?”

“I’m used to waking up at this time from my days in the army,” Qin Huaijing said while rolling up his sleeves. “You and Dad should rest more. I’ll make breakfast today.”

He hummed a little tune as he walked into the kitchen.

Lai Suyun was still a bit surprised and muttered to herself, “This brat is in such a good mood this early morning, even humming. What good thing happened to him?”

Qin Guozhong came out and chuckled. “What are you muttering about again?”

Lai Suyun took a sip of water and set the cup down. “Talking about our son. He just went into the kitchen to make breakfast.”

“This kid didn’t spend all that time in the army for nothing,” Qin Guozhong said with a smile. “He’s actually pretty responsible. He’ll be a good husband who knows how to take care of his wife.”

  He looked genuinely pleased.

Lai Suyun smiled helplessly. “That’s true. With how clingy he is now, even us as parents have to take a back seat.”

It wasn’t that she was jealous of her son, but she was just feeling nostalgic that her child was growing up.

Qin Guozhong poured himself some water and added, “Sending him off was the right call. Otherwise that brat would’ve been impossible to manage. Meilan handles him well. That saves us a lot of worry.”

The couple chatted and laughed together.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Qin Huaijing was in a good mood as well. He was cooking porridge, boiling eggs, and preparing his wife’s favorite dish, stir-fried pork strips.

Huo Meilan was called downstairs for breakfast, and the moment she saw the stir-fried pork strips, she knew it was Qin Huaijing’s handiwork.

Her heart warmed a little. At least this man did have some thoughtfulness in him.

Qin Huaijing scooped her a bowl of porridge, peeled her egg himself, and handed over a thin flatbread made with a mix of corn flour and wheat flour.

“Wrap the meat with this. It’ll feel less greasy in the morning.”

Huo Meilan took it and tried it out, nodding as she ate.

Lai Suyun and Qin Guozhong finished their breakfast quickly and made their exit right after. They really couldn’t stand watching the young couple being all sweet and sticky, especially their son who looked like a clingy little puppy.

Once the parents were gone, Qin Huaijing relaxed even more. He moved his chair closer to hers.

Seeing how well she was eating, he even started wrapping food for her himself, occasionally lifting it up to feed her. When she looked like she might be a little choked up, he immediately brought the porridge bowl to her lips.

“Slow down. Have a sip of porridge to help it go down…”

Huo Meilan was eating happily and getting pampered comfortably at the same time. After she finished, she leaned back in her chair and stretched lazily with a long, satisfied yawn.

Life like this was honestly pretty comfortable.

Qin Huaijing was clearing the dishes while casually asking, “Does your waist still hurt? Want to go upstairs and take a nap?”

“No more sleeping. I’m going outside for a walk. Ate a bit too much, need to digest it.”

Huo Meilan got up to head outside, and Qin Huaijing reminded her, “Don’t go too far. Just walk around the courtyard.”

  “Got it.”
