Heavenly Eyes 3: A Song of Hope
CHAPTER 3
12.
I'm familiar with this!
I cleared my throat and used my grandmother's technique.
“I haven't seen her for now, but I can't guarantee she won't come again.
Mr. Ma, you have to tell the truth. I can only help you if you tell the truth.
You're hiding things, and even if I want to help, I don't know how, do you understand?”
Mr. Ma looked at me in surprise, “You?”
I nodded. “That's right! My grandmother is the Flower Goddess from my hometown. I grew up with her and inherited her skills…”
I spun a tall tale, completely bamboozling Mr. Ma.
The man who was about to make me copy a hundred pages of scriptures just moments ago was now treating me with utmost respect.
“It's not that I wouldn't tell you, it's that I didn't know how to say it...
This Tang Yun'en, twenty years ago, was the daughter of our principal.
She was a ballet dancer, exceptionally beautiful, and many male students in the school liked her.
Back then, our principal's last name was Tang, and she was a woman. I heard she got divorced and had only one daughter, whom she was very strict with.
Later, for some unknown reason, her daughter committed suicide by jumping off a building.
Not long after that, Principal Tang was also found dead in her office.
Since then, our school has been haunted.
Whenever someone mentions Tang Yun'en's name, Principal Tang's ghost would come to find them. I've heard that it even scared someone to death!
So it's not that I want to scare you, but you really shouldn't mention that name again!
Who knows if Principal Tang might come looking for you?”
Shocking!
I'm utterly shocked!
“So, our school is haunted not only by the senior sister, but also by the principal???”
13.
Since Mr. Ma revealed the senior sister's past, I've been very uneasy.
I'm afraid Principal Tang will come looking for me.
After all, others can't see her, but I can!
After Mr. Ma fainted that morning, he took leave to rest at home.
Without a reliable source of information, I can only rely on myself.
During the break in evening self-study, I went alone to the restroom at the end of the corridor.
The lights weren't flickering this time.
I crouched down and carefully called out,
“Senior sister! Senior sister Tang!”
I dared not call her by her name; I was afraid her mother would come after me.
But no matter how I called, senior sister Tang, who usually jumps from the building every now and then, didn't respond at all.
With no other option, I sent senior sister Tang a WeChat message.
“Senior sister, where are you? I have something to ask you.”
After a while, the senior sister actually appeared.
“What? Didn't you tell me to play on my phone and stop scaring people by jumping off the building?”
I rolled my eyes. “Have you ever stopped scaring people?
Our class teacher, Mr. Ma, was scared by you to the school clinic today!
He said he was your schoolmate twenty years ago. Do you remember him?”
Senior Sister Tang was shocked by this.
“What? I've been dead for twenty years? A school uniform hasn't changed in twenty years?”
Me: “Is that the point? Isn't the point what actually happened to you back then?”
The senior sister tiptoed and lightly performed ballet moves in front of me.
“I don't remember~”
I frowned. “You don't remember anything? Do you remember your mother?”
Senior sister: “I can't remember~”
She really has forgotten everything completely!
After asking for a long time, she kept saying she didn't know or had forgotten.
I knew I wouldn't find any clues from her, so I could only ask the most crucial question.
“Mr. Ma said that whenever someone in the school mentions your name, your mother will come looking for them.
So will your mother come looking for me? If you see her, tell her I'm new here and don't know the rules…”
I thought the senior sister would say she didn't remember or didn't know.
Unexpectedly, she said nonchalantly, “Why are you afraid of her?”
14.
Just as we were talking, senior sister Tang suddenly disappeared.
I turned around and saw a middle-aged woman in a suit, with her hair neatly done in a bun, looking rather haggard. She asked me, “Student, have you seen my daughter?”
I looked closer, and wow! Isn't that Principal Tang?
I saw her picture when I went to the library to look through old photos and school history archives at noon.
I heard that many students back then were frightened by her.
Whenever she heard someone mention her daughter's name, she would appear and ask, “Have you seen my daughter?”
If you answered that you hadn't seen her, Principal Tang would get angry, grabbing their necks and yelling, “You're lying to me! You must have hidden my daughter!”
Students who were caught would, at best, wet their pants in fear, and at worst, suffer injuries and mental breakdowns.
I thought for a moment. If Principal Tang were to grab me, my small frame would definitely suffer.
So I took a different approach and said, “I saw her! She was just here a moment ago!”
Principal Tang's expression instantly changed from gloomy to shocked, then to ecstatic.
“You! You saw my Yun'en?”
Seeing Principal Tang so excited, I nodded. “Yes, she was wearing a white dress, with long hair, and she tiptoed and danced, right?”
Principal Tang excitedly grabbed my hand. “Yes, yes! That's my daughter, where is she?”
Instantly, I felt a bone-chilling coldness.
15.
But now wasn't the time to be afraid.
I grabbed Principal Tang's hand.
“Principal! Can you tell me what happened back then? Why did senior sister Tang jump off the building, and why did you take your own life?”
Hearing my words, Principal Tang's face changed instantly.
She lunged forward, grabbing my neck.
“It's you! You killed my daughter!”
“Yun'en! My Yun'en!”
I was choked, unable to breathe, and struggled desperately.
“Principal Tang! Please calm down, I'm here to help you! You wouldn't want senior sister Yun'en to continue suffering like this, would you?”
But Principal Tang seemed to have lost her reason. Her strength was surprisingly great, and she was determined to kill me.
Just as I was about to pass out from being choked, a force suddenly grabbed Principal Tang away.
I opened my eyes and saw Principal Tang held tightly by someone, unable to move.
It was a boy who looked seventeen or eighteen years old, thin and tall, with messy bangs obscuring a pair of blood-red pupils.
Although he looked human, the evil and powerful aura emanating from him showed that he was anything but.
I looked at him in surprise. “Who are you?”
He ignored me, instead looking down at Principal Tang in his hand. He said in a hoarse voice, “I told you, if you hurt anyone, I will eat you.”
Principal Tang seemed scared, trembling as she looked at him. “Don't, don't eat me! I haven't found my daughter yet.”
Tears streamed down Principal Tang's face as she looked at the boy pleadingly, like a mouse seeing a cat.
The boy stared at her for a moment, then cursed, “So troublesome!”
Then he flung her away, releasing her.
Principal Tang, freed from his grasp, glanced at him warily before disappearing.
I hurried after her. “Principal Tang! You haven't told me what happened yet!”
But the boy grabbed me, his expression changing from disdain to bloodthirsty excitement.
“You are... the Heavenly Eye Girl!”
16.
The boy's words instantly pulled me out of the tense atmosphere.
I immediately started fixing my bangs.
“Ah? What? My hair is messed up?”
Hearing my words, the boy scoffed, lowering his head to bite my neck.
Whoa, I was stunned.
Quickly protecting my neck, I looked at him warily.
“Demon! I knew you weren't human! You want to eat me?”
Seeing that I'd figured out his intentions, the boy glared at me in annoyance.
His eyes returned to their previous disdainful expression.
“Tsk, troublesome!”
Then he disappeared.
I was extremely shocked.
What kind of person was that? He wanted to eat me, and then called me troublesome!
Although I admit he saved me just now, he can't just do that!
As I was pondering, I vaguely saw a girl walking towards me.
It's normal to see people coming and going at school, but when I saw the girl's face, I was completely confused.
She looked exactly like the boy who had just saved me and then tried to eat me.
I wanted to go and ask a few questions, but the school bell rang.
I could only go back to the classroom first and think about what to do.
Throughout the entire evening self-study session, I kept thinking about senior sister Tang and Principal Tang.
However, I couldn't figure it out no matter how hard I tried, so I could only go home after school.
On the way home, Shen Chen came to pick me up.
Seeing my absentmindedness, he asked, “Sis, what's wrong? Something on your mind?”
I pondered whether or not to tell him about what I'd encountered recently.
After thinking it over, I decided to tell him.
I thought Shen Chen would scold me, but unexpectedly, upon hearing my story, he nervously pulled me down, pulling open my collar to examine my neck.
“Sis, is your neck okay?”
Seeing his concern, I quickly reassured him.
“Sis is fine! Come on, your sister is going to inherit our grandma's legacy! It's not that easy to be scared by those monsters and ghosts!
Don't worry, I just pity them, that's why I don't bother with them. If I really wanted to fight, they wouldn't be a match for me.”
What I said was true, without any exaggeration.
A single drop of my blood could annihilate them.
But I didn't want to do that.
Although they were no longer humans in the traditional sense, they had once been someone's parents, children, friends, and lovers.
As the saying goes, the greater the power, the greater the responsibility.
I can't bully the weak just because I'm strong, can I?
