Time-Travel: The Tragic Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Makes a Comeback

CHAPTER 111:The 1980s Villain’s Biological Mother (4)

Seeing their precious eldest grandson get chased off, the old Wang couple glared furiously at Mu Shuhui.

“If anything happens to Chaoyang out there this late at night, we won’t let you off!”

“You two old things still dare glare at me? ‘Won’t let me off,’ my ass! And the two of you, hurry up and prepare some bathwater. If not, I’ll start with you tonight. At your age, dying early might even count as reincarnating sooner.”

The pair were so furious they nearly rolled their eyes back, but the moment they saw Mu Shuhui walking toward them with scissors in hand, they panicked and scrambled toward the kitchen.

The only one left was the younger sister-in-law, dressed all flashy and gaudy as she hid by the doorway. Her sharp, sour-looking face twisted as she threatened:

“Harming people is against the law! We can report you to the police. Then you’ll be thrown in jail!”

“Really? Then before the police arrive, I’ll make sure to send you off first. Maybe add a few cuts to that face of yours while I’m at it.”

After saying that, Mu Shuhui burst into laughter and casually waved the scissors in her direction.

Wang Xiaomei had only been pretending to stay calm to begin with. The moment she met Mu Shuhui’s dark, chilling gaze and heard those spine-crawling words, she shrieked in terror and bolted.

Hearing their daughter scream from outside, the old Wang couple in the kitchen jumped in fright and hurried to light the stove and boil water.

They were terrified that lunatic woman might storm in.

Back in the room, Mu Shuhui spent some time talking to the two little ones, soothing them gently and telling them not to be afraid. She explained that she was only teaching the bad people a lesson so no one would bully them again in the future.

Not long after, her sharp ears caught the sound of voices coming from outside.

She wasn’t worried in the slightest. Calmly, she took the two children by the hand and walked out.

Wang Chaoyang showed no fear at all. His gaze toward those people was fierce and hostile.

After being comforted by her mother, Er Ya was still timid and nervous, but she tried hard to lift her head and stare at them too, unwilling to let anyone bully her mother anymore.

Wang Xiaomei had run off to gather a crowd before returning full of confidence.

“Mu Shuhui! Today’s the day you’re finished! I already called the police! You attacked us with scissors earlier, so let everyone see your true colors today!”

Mu Shuhui immediately put on a puzzled expression and raised her voice.

“Xiaomei, I’ve been sick. Your parents won’t even let me eat, so I really don’t have the strength. I’ll wash your pile of underwear in a couple of days, alright? There’s no need to call the police and make such a huge scene over it.”

Wang Xiaomei nearly exploded from anger.

“You bitch, shut your mouth! Who asked you to wash anything?! Stop framing me!”

Mu Shuhui sighed helplessly. “Fine, fine, I won’t say anything else. Otherwise your parents might stop giving food to the three of us again. Ah, no, no... Please don’t misunderstand. I... I just misspoke. Xiaomei actually treats me very well.”

The villagers watching the drama instantly chose to believe Mu Shuhui instead.

After all, Wang Xiaomei had always been arrogant and nasty. Her reputation in the village wasn’t exactly good to begin with. Just hearing her call her own sister-in-law a “bitch” over and over already said enough.

One by one, they started teasing Wang Xiaomei.

“Wang Xiaomei, your sister-in-law sure treats you well, huh? Even washing your underwear for you?”

“Having a sister-in-law like you is way too much. You even falsely accused your second sister-in-law of trying to stab someone with scissors. With how soft-hearted she is, you’re the one more likely to go around waving scissors.”

“Seriously, Junzi’s widow is pitiful too. She was so pretty when she first married into the family. Look at what she’s been reduced to now. And those two children beside her are so skinny. A widowed mother raising kids alone, how heartbreaking…”

The women in the crowd were naturally soft-hearted, and one after another, they began sympathizing with Mu Shuhui.

Hearing everyone take that bitch’s side, Wang Xiaomei felt her vision go black with anger. She staggered backward, nearly fainting on the spot.

  “She’s lying! Don’t believe her!”

Unfortunately for her, everyone treated her explanation like wind passing through one ear and out the other.

The villagers gathered around Mu Shuhui, asking why she had tried to jump into the river a few days ago.

Holding her two children close, Mu Shuhui slowly talked about all the hardships she had endured. After her husband died, she had fallen seriously ill. Her in-laws kept hold of the compensation money and refused to let her use any of it, forcing her to take all kinds of folk remedies that ended up ruining her body.

The three of them could barely get enough to eat or wear at home, and every day they were cursed at and mistreated…

None of this had ever reached the villagers before. The Wang couple had always spread a completely different story outside.

They told everyone their daughter-in-law was lazy and gluttonous.

They claimed she had stuffed herself with the compensation money until she became so fat she was too ashamed to leave the house.

As for the two children, they said the kids had inherited their mother’s bad temperament and were impossible to discipline. They refused to eat properly, refused to dress properly, were too lazy to even wash themselves, and since the old Wang couple was getting on in years, they simply couldn’t control them anymore and had no choice but to let them run wild.

The more Mu Shuhui listened, the more furious she became. She seriously wanted to charge inside and beat those two old bastards up. The sheer audacity of them to say such things was unbelievable.

Mu Shuhui cried as she spoke about all the injustice she had suffered, secretly nudging the two children beside her as she did.

“I’ve endured so much. No matter how they bullied me or beat and scolded me, I never once spoke badly about the Wang family because I didn’t want to disgrace Junzi. And yet they still go around spreading lies like this. They really have no conscience at all!”

Seeing her mother cry, Er Ya had already burst into tears herself, her little nose red as she sobbed.

“Grandpa, Grandma, and Auntie are all bad people! They make Mommy do all the work, and they don’t let me and Brother eat. They only care about Eldest Uncle’s son.”

Wang Chaoyang lowered his head, suppressing the hatred in his eyes as his fists clenched tightly. After hesitating for a long moment, he finally spoke in a hoarse voice.

“Ever since my dad died, Grandpa and Grandma even gave my name to Eldest Uncle’s son. We’ve never had a full meal. When we got hungry, we could only go into the fields and dig up sweet potato vines nobody wanted to boil and eat. The clothes we wear are all leftovers our cousin didn’t want anymore.”

By the time they finished speaking, many people in the crowd had red eyes from anger and pity, and accusations toward the Wang family erupted one after another.

“No matter what, the children’s father died as a hero. A widow raising two children alone already has it hard enough, and the Wang family still bullies them like this? That’s disgusting!”

“They’re too pitiful. They were just too timid and never exposed the Wang family sooner.”

“We should all help out. Let’s go talk to the village chief later. This kind of thing is absolutely heartless…”

The crowd quickly united and headed off together to find the village chief.

Wang Xiaomei tried to stop them, but there was no holding anyone back.

Meanwhile, the old Wang couple secretly listening from the kitchen felt their hearts drop with a thud.

  That damned woman!

If this blew up any further, how were they supposed to clean up the mess?!

The military had even called a few days ago saying they would be coming back for a follow-up visit, and it just so happened to be within the next few days!

After hearing everyone talk over one another, the village chief’s head was practically spinning. In the end, he decided to come to the Wang house personally to see what was going on.

Meanwhile, Wang Xiaomei had already called the police, and the officers happened to arrive at the same time.

Before long, a huge crowd had gathered outside the Wang family home.

Mu Shuhui spoke quickly and clearly, making sure to summarize the entire situation before the Wang family could twist the story first.

“That’s not true! She’s lying! She even tried to stab us with scissors earlier!” Wang Xiaomei immediately shouted in defense.

The old Wang couple also rushed out crying dramatically.

“This daughter-in-law of ours is unfilial! Not only does she curse and hit us, she even threatened to kill us! Officer, you have to arrest this damned woman!”

Mu Shuhui didn’t argue back. Instead, she sighed helplessly and said, “Mom, Dad, please stop making a scene with Xiaomei. I’ve worked hard serving this whole family without complaint. Aren’t you just afraid I’ll fight you over the compensation money? All these years, I never even touched Junzi’s salary. Didn’t all the money end up in your hands anyway? I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this for my two children.”

The Wang family was so furious at her act that they completely lost control of their tongues.

  “You bitch!”

  “You fat pig!”

“Stop pretending and putting on a show!”

Even the surrounding villagers couldn’t listen to it anymore and started speaking up for Mu Shuhui one after another.

The police clearly didn’t want to get involved in a family dispute. After hearing from the villagers that there hadn’t actually been any attempted murder or violent incident, they darkened their faces, gave the Wang family a stern lecture, and left soon after.
